BASIC BEEKEEPING COURSE – ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW TO GET STARTED Theory and hands-on experience, over 4 sessions
Venue - Ouseburn City Farm, Newcastle upon Tyne Time - 9.30am to 1.30pm Dates - Saturday 10th March, 24th March, 31st March and 14th April 2012 OR - Saturday 21st April, 28th April, 5th May and 12th May 2012 Cost - £120 per person
With hands- on practice in a hive in every session (weather permitting), this course covers all the basic information you’ll need to enable you to manage a colony of bees yourself.
Please wear suitable clothing for looking at the bees. Boots such as wellingtons, long sleeved top, long trousers [both made from smooth fabric to stop the bees' feet snagging], over trousers and Marigold-type gloves. Please bring your own Beekeeper's protective clothing if you already have it, or alternatively it can be hired from us for £5 for the whole course

Cancellations - if it is necessary to cancel a booking, this must be done in writing to the address above. Cancellations received at least 56 days in advance of the course will receive a refund by postal cheque of the course fee less £3 administration fee. Those received less than 56 days before the course starts will only receive a refund if a replacement participant is found, in which case there will be a refund of the course fee minus £5 administration fee after the course date.
If for any reason AIW Limited cancels a course, e.g. lack of bookings or tutor illness, a full refund will be given by post to those who have booked. Our liability is limited to the course fee refund only and not to any other costs incurred by participants who have booked. We reserve the right to alter, cancel or amend any activities should the weather or other situation so demand.
SAFETY! Please note that a very small proportion or people are seriously allergic to bee stings. If you are concerned that you might be one of them please consult your doctor before booking, We take reasonable steps to avoid beestings, but cannot guarantee that the bees will always behave as we would wish.If you are aware or suspect that you are likely to suffer anaphylactic shock as a result of bee stings, we ask you NOT to book one of our courses.

Are you interested in taking up Beekeeping? BEES AND BEEKEEPING - AN INTRODUCTORY 1 DAY COURSE
Are you thinking about keeping bees? Are you fascinated by bees and honey, and want to know more about bees or beekeeping?
This introductory course for beginners will answer your questions, showing you what you need to know about the these fascinating creatures, and giving you an insight into beekeeping as a pastime.
There will also be an opportunity, weather permitting, for those who wish, to have a look inside a hive of bees (suits provided). Whatever the weather, live bees will be available for inspection in a glass-sided display hive.
The Beekeeping Taster One Day Course includes :- · How does a colony of bees work all year? What roles do the queen and her drones and workers play?
