BASIC BEEKEEPING COURSE

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW TO GET STARTED

 

Theory and hands-on experience, over 4 sessions

 

Venue – Basement Project, St Bartholomew’s Church, Forest Hall, NE12 8AN Time - 10am to 2pm

Dates - Saturday 30th March and 6th, 13th and 27th April 2019

Cost    - £105 per person (take £5 off if you already have your own bee-suit)

 

With hands- on practice in a hive in every session (weather permitting), this course covers

 all the basic information you’ll need to enable you to manage a colony of bees yourself.

 

Please wear suitable clothing for looking at the bees: boots such as wellingtons, long sleeved top, long trousers [both made from smooth fabric to stop the bees' feet snagging], or over trousers and Marigold-type gloves. If you already have your own Beekeeper’s protective clothing please feel free to bring it to the course otherwise protective suits will be provided but you will still need to provide your own washing up/rubber gloves.

 

Given the high level of demand, places will be allocated on the order of payments are received.

Cancellations - if it is necessary to cancel a booking, this must be done in writing to the address above. Cancellations received at least 56 days in advance of the course will receive a refund by postal cheque of the course fee less £3 administration fee. Those received less than 56 days before the course starts will only receive a refund if a replacement participant is found, in which case there will be a refund of the course fee minus £5 administration fee after the course date.

If for any reason AIW Limited cancels a course, e.g. lack of bookings or tutor illness, a full refund will be given by post to those who have booked. Our liability is limited to the course fee refund only and not to any other costs incurred by participants who have booked.

We reserve the right to alter, cancel or amend any activities should the weather or other situation so demand.

 

SAFETY! Please note that a very small proportion of people are seriously allergic to bee stings. If you are concerned that you might be one of them, please consult your doctor before booking. We take reasonable steps to avoid bee stings, but cannot guarantee that the bees will always behave as we would wish.  

 If you are aware or suspect that you are likely to suffer anaphylactic shock as a result of bee stings, we ask you NOT to book our course.
